GOLF with Branch 89

Branch 89 plays golf every Thursday at one of the local golf courses. The courses include Salinas Fairways, Laguna Seca Golf Ranch, Monterey Pines, Crazy Horse Ranch, Carmel Valley Ranch, Pacific Grove, Spring Hills, Eagleridge and San Juan Oaks golf courses.

Golf Committee

First tee time is usually around mid-morning. Our members are out to enjoy the day and have a good time together. The schedule includes several different formats that make interesting competitions during the year, such as: A) Play with 3 clubs and a putter; B) Forward tee week; and C) Two man scramble. Beginning in 2020 we will be playing as two flights on most dates. Flight A will be any player with an index of 0 to 19.9 and Flight B will be anyone with an index of 20.0 or higher.

The club is made up of members in good standing of Santa Lucia Branch 89 and on the Thursday following our monthly meeting/luncheon we have a points competition. It is similar to the FedEx points race on the PGA tour in that all participants receive points. The points are awarded as follows: 1st place = 500 points; 2nd place = 450; 3rd place = 400; 4th place = 350; 5th place = 300; 6th place = 250; 7th place = 200; 8th place = 175; 9th place = 150; 10th place = 125; 11th place = 100 and 12th place and higher = 75 points.

The member with the highest cumulative score at the end of November will be awarded the Santa Lucia Branch 89 Golf Club Championship trophy at the Christmas luncheon in December. We invite members of other branches to play with us but they will not be eligible to receive points and cannot win the championship trophy. Prospective members may also play as a guest two times before they are inducted into our fine organization."
